Twelve Spirits Society

PRESENTS A

Private Single Cask Release

Pinhook Bourbon

We secured a private single cask of Pinhook Bourbon — bottled exclusively for our circle. We’re offering first access to friends and family before any broader release.

This is not a standard shelf release - one barrel, limited bottles, never to be replicated.

Age: 5 years
ABV: 58.5% Cask Strength
Mashbill: 75% corn, 15% rye, and 10% malted barley

$55.00

The bottles should arrive in April 2026.

Tasting Notes:

This beautiful Pinhook represents everything you'd want from their portfolio and profile. The nose imparts a soft oak, bazooka Joe bubblegum, rye spice, and malt. Once you dig into this on the palate it tingles with freshly torched caramel, sweet cereal grains, and hard candy. This gives way to a short-to-medium finish leaving you with cinnamon, brown sugar, and a slightly herbal character. Even at its barrel strength, you'll find yourself reaching again and again for just one more pour!

The Twelve Spirits Society

Began the way most good things do — old friends, good whisky, and a conversation that ran long into the night.

Each year we release one barrel, tied to one animal, and anchored to one 成語.

The spirit in the glass is the spirit of the year. This is our second cycle and We're glad you’re in it.

酒藏歲月 馬識舊途

jiǔ cáng suì yuè mǎ shí jiù tú

TIME EVOLVES WHISKY
EXPERIENCE EARNS WISDOM

The Chinese have long known that wisdom travels best in small vessels. These are 成語 chéngyǔ — classical idioms — each one a story compressed to its essence, worn smooth by centuries of use. Twelve animals mark the years. Twelve idioms will mark ours. The Horse goes first. It always does.

Part I: The Horse

After a long campaign against a northern tribe, the army turned south toward home. They were tired — not from battle, but the dull, deep exhaustion of men who have been away from home for many years. They crossed into lands none of them recognized, where the terrain offered no comfort and the horizon appeared identical in all directions. The desert swallowed landmarks whole and sand shifted where paths had been. The sun gave light, but no guidance.

Days passed, rations shrank, and the men grew quiet in the way that armies do when hope starts to leave without announcing itself.

It was the General — not the young commanders with their maps and their confidence — who proposed something that silenced the entire camp, “Release the oldest warhorse from the stables — and follow it.”

The younger generals exchanged muffled laughs and skeptical glances. The horse wore its age with dignity, its muzzle had turned grey over time and its eyes were wary, dulled by decades of war — what could it know that trained soldiers couldn't?

The General was patient, “Old horses remember the roads they've traveled, he said, “they know what our maps don't.”

So his men loosened the horse's lead. It stood still for a moment, ears turning, listening to the wind, sniffing the barren wasteland. Then it started walking — not with any apparent urgency, just steadily — into the open expanse. The army followed tentatively, uncertain, watching.

The horse did not waver. After several days, a road appeared beneath their feet — known terrain, the way home.

The army that had been lost found its path not through strategy or strength, but by trusting what it had almost left behind.

Like the old horse, a cask that has seen the seasons carries its journey in every drop.

THE PINHOOK STORY

Pinhook Bourbon was founded with a simple but uncommon philosophy: every vintage should reflect a moment in time.

Unlike most bourbon brands that chase consistency year after year, Pinhook treats whiskey more like wine. Each release is a snapshot of a specific season, mash bill, and maturation cycle — bottled at its peak rather than blended to match a permanent flavor profile.

A Vintage Approach to Bourbon

Pinhook's name comes from the horse racing term "pinhooking" — buying young horses with the intent to develop them and resell them at maturity. It's a nod to Kentucky heritage and to the idea of patient development over time.

Each year, the mash bill shifts, the proof moves, the flavor profile evolves, and the label features a new thoroughbred. Nothing is fixed, nothing repeats, each iteration builds character, complexity, and heritage.

Castle & Key Roots

In recent years, much of Pinhook’s whiskey has been distilled and matured at Castle & Key Distillery, one of Kentucky’s most storied and beautifully restored distilleries. The combination of thoughtful distillation and careful barrel selection has helped define Pinhook’s house style — elegant, layered, and expressive.
